Video

Specializing in video content strategy and production, my background in Theatre Arts, Commercial Art, Video Production, drone videography, and experience in the talent agency field paved my path as a video creator, marking the culmination of my artistic career journey before transitioning into marketing management.

I planned, filmed, and edited over a hundred short marketing videos during a 4-year stint in my creative career phase (pre-MBA degree). The videos were used for pre-roll, commercials, websites, and social media content. Types of videos included testimonials, recruitment, advertising, how-to, personal profiles, sizzle reels, showcase videos, walk-throughs/tours, documentaries, internal training videos, and pitch videos. This is one in a series of videos I created for the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Centers in Iowa. I provided cost quotes for different types of production services and then planned the shoots with the client. As Production Manager, I also filmed, ran tech, and directed on-camera subjects; supervised my assistant on set; captured B-roll footage; edited the footage; and created motion graphics.

This is an example from a series of recruitment videos I created for Hubbell Realty Company. I helped to storyboard and script the video with the client’s HR Director, planned the shoot, did all the on-site production along with one assistant (video, audio, lighting), and also took on all the post-production editing, voiceover sourcing, and motion graphics.

A video I planned, filmed, and edited for Des Moines University (DMU), one of Iowa's Top Workplaces in 2016.

For this website marketing video, I interviewed and directed subjects for A- and B-Roll shots, ran camera and sound, and edited together the final cut with motion graphics and titles to tell a compelling story for the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. I also created a shorter, 30-sec cut for use in pre-roll ad campaigns.

Real RAGBRAI riders volunteered to try on the 2016 Classic Passport jersey and let us know their first impressions. This video was a part of a mini-series I created from concept to completion for in-house client RAGBRAI. Previously, no promotional videos for merchandise had been created. I devised the idea of a casting call looking for real fans of the ride to come into our studio to try on various items and narrate their first impressions on camera. The videos were placed on the RAGBRAI eCommerce website as well as social media, creating a buzz for that year’s merch offerings. As a result, YOY website sales were up 19.6% and the videos received twice as many views on social media as other content posted in the same time frame.

This how-to is from a series of 12 classic cocktail videos for social media and website use that I made for Johnny's Italian Steakhouse. The restaurant is one of the brands I created content for when working at Heart of America Group. The videos were planned, shot, and edited by myself (2018). The goal of the videos was to evoke a nostalgic feel that Johnny's brand is famous for, and to encourage more orders of classic cocktails. The campaign was rounded out with cocktail feature cards on restaurant tables and email marketing.

I coordinated this project with a 3rd-party vendor, organizing the entire two-day shoot and directing the shots onsite. I also edited the video and added in motion graphics. One of several videos from the series.

One video from a larger, award-winning marketing campaign. This :30 sec spot used for social media and online pre-roll for the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. I worked with a small team to conceptualize the shoot and cast the main actor. All shooting, direction, and editing was done by myself.

The Des Moines Playhouse hired me to edit together various pieces of footage they captured from educational programs and create a compelling story to tell donors. I pieced together a cohesive narrative using the provided clips and added colorful motion graphics and text to round out the video. I also created three much shorter clips for social media channels in addition to this longer-form video, which was shown at a donor event.

I designed a static infographic and then animated it for this educational video while working on contract for the City of Des Moines. The video was distributed across social media and the accompanying infographic was featured in 84,000 mailed newsletters to households in the city.

One in a series of several recruitment videos I organized, filmed, and edited for Hubbell Realty in 2016.

I planned, filmed, and edited this newsroom recruitment video for the Des Moines Register as the in-house multimedia producer for Register Media. Both are owned by corporate parent Gannett Co., Inc. and are a part of the USA TODAY Network. The video was featured online and in social media to draw in applicants for newsroom roles.

Interview Reel: This reel showcases my camera, lighting, and background styling for multiple interview subjects, both on-location and in-studio. All direction, filming, and post-production was also done by myself.

The Video Producer

As a female videographer and director, I'm in the minority. My goal is to always help women feel confident on camera in what can be a nervous and vulnerable situation. Women and men alike have said time and again how comfortable and effortless the on-camera process was, and that means the world to me.
